London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) Risk Intelligence has announced the launch of a new Identity Gateway infrastructure layer aimed at simplifying access to trusted digital identity schemes across multiple jurisdictions. The announcement was made at Money20/20 Europe.

LSEG solution is designed to address growing fragmentation in digital identity ecosystems, pushing organisations operating internationally to integrate with separate identity verification systems in each market. This typically creates operational complexity, higher costs, and inconsistent onboarding experiences for customers.
Identity Gateway provides a single standardised API for such cases. Its commercial framework connects organisations to multiple government-backed and regulated private identity schemes. Built on Microsoft Azure, the platform works as an integration layer instead of separate market-by-market technical builds.
According to LSEG Risk Intelligence, organisations that currently integrate identity systems individually can spend several months per market on implementation. Identity Gateway can reduce time-to-market by up to 80–90%.
“Digital identity is reaching an inflection point. As trusted national and private schemes continue to emerge, organisations need a simpler way to access them without rebuilding their identity processes market by market.
Identity Gateway helps solve that challenge by creating a standardised access layer that supports scale, reduces complexity and enables more trusted, higher-assurance digital experiences across borders.”
Daniel Flowe, Head of Digital Identity at LSEG Risk Intelligence
Presenting the solution, the company also highlighted increasing fragmentation across national and private digital identity frameworks. Each of them is operating with different technical standards, assurance levels, and regulatory requirements. This fragmentation is expected to increase further as new initiatives develop. For once, there’s the EU Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet framework, where each member state will implement its own national wallet with different approaches, though with common specifications.
Initially, Identity Gateway provides access to digital identity schemes across 10 European markets, including Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark and Spain, where national digital identity systems are already widespread. Additional jurisdictions will be added over time.
The platform functions as a unified ID access point for organisations. They might connect once and then route identity verification requests across multiple schemes. Standardised identity data is returned for integration into onboarding and compliance workflows.
Identity Gateway is part of LSEG Risk Intelligence’s broader identity verification offering. It also includes document-based and data-based verification tools. The platform and overall LSEG ecosystem support risk-based identity checks, allowing organisations to adjust verification methods depending on regulatory requirements, geography and transaction risk.
The launch took place during Money20/20 Europe, one of the global fintech industry’s major annual events. The conference occuring on June 2-4 became the stage for many other important industry announcements. Those were mainly dedicated to AI developments, open banking initiatives, stablecoin payments, and financial inclusion.
