As cooperation between Uber and Mastercard deepens, the ride-hailing ecosystem participants in more countries will enjoy the benefits of real-time disbursements and seamless payment collection.
Mastercard is expanding its global payments partnership with Uber to support transactions for drivers, couriers, and cardholders using the Uber platform. Uber will use various Mastercard solutions to enhance its payment operations, including Mastercard Move for real-time payouts, Mastercard One Credential to streamline payment methods, and Mastercard Gateway for payment collection and fraud prevention.
The Uber Pro Card, already available in the U.S. and Canada with Mastercard support, will continue functioning in those markets and also expand to new ones, including the U.K., which hosts over 100,000 Uber drivers. The card offers drivers and couriers instant, no-fee access to their earnings after each trip or delivery, along with fuel cashback and other benefits, boosting cash flow stability and financial inclusion for gig workers. The card will also adopt Mastercard One Credential, which allows users to manage their payments through a single digital credential, giving them more flexibility and control over their finances.
Uber consumers will also gain access to Mastercard’s digital marketing and rewards Offers Platform and other payment features, which aim to add value to transactions on Uber’s delivery and mobility services. Mastercard Gateway will, in turn, help Uber process a wide range of digital payments securely and efficiently.
Representatives from both companies highlighted the scale and goals of the partnership. Uber’s vice president of Global Commerce, Karl Hebert, said the companies aim to expand benefits for both earners and users on the platform. Sherri Haymond, co-president of Global Partnerships at Mastercard, noted that the collaboration connects Mastercard’s global network with Uber’s large base of earners and users, supporting smoother payment experiences and Uber’s broader business strategy.
