Meta Product Chief Says About Ability of AI Chatbots to Lure Advertisers

Meta Platforms Director of Products Chris Cox said that, in his opinion, chatbots with artificial intelligence will gradually become a more attractive tool for advertisers and believes that these digital products will gradually go beyond the status of a way to stimulate interaction with a particular digital platform.

Meta Product Chief Says About Ability of AI Chatbots to Lure Advertisers

According to experts, Mr. Cox’s statement can be characterized as evidence that the aforementioned technology giant intends to reorient advanced technology to business customers. The company’s director of products says that at present the business is looking for more advanced tools based on machine intelligence. He made the corresponding statement last Tuesday, October 17, at the WSJ Tech Live conference in Laguna Beach, California.

Chris Cox says that one of the most promising options for using machine intelligence in the foreseeable future is to help businesses improve their efficiency.

A few weeks after launching several free chatbots with artificial intelligence for those who interact with Instagram and WhatsApp, the tech giant is focused on finding ways to make a profit as a result of the applying of AI. Experts say that such an activity strategy is characteristic of the company and consists of initially presenting a new function and then quickly finding a way to monetize it with the help of advertisers. A similar concept of actions was observed in the case of short videos and stories on Instagram. The tech giant also followed this strategy when the company’s chat apps were open for commerce.

The artificial intelligence features, which were introduced last month by Meta, include the creation of customized stickers, image editing, and a variety of celebrity chatbot characters that work based on advanced technology. It was the largest release of AI features that are consumer-oriented. The company has also introduced machine intelligence technology for developers.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other representatives of the leadership of this organization went on tour this year as part of efforts to promote the concept of positioning the company as the leader of the so-called artificial intelligence race.

The current name of the technology giant was approved in October 2021 after the rejection of the Facebook appellation. This decision has symbolic and conceptual significance. Meta is an abbreviation of metaverse, a virtual space, the idea of creating and developing which Mark Zuckerberg characterizes as one of the main goals of the company. He also says that the digital universe is what can be called the next generation of the Internet. So far, the project of creating a kind of corporate virtual reality space has not achieved its main goals. But this is a long-term strategy, it is too early to assess the success of which.

The surge of interest in artificial intelligence caused by last year’s debut of the world’s most popular chatbot based on an advanced technology called ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI specialists, influenced the content of Mark Zuckerberg’s rhetoric. At the annual developer conferences, the head of Meta devotes more time to discussing machine intelligence and pays less attention to the project of an alternative universe in the digital dimension, which at some point became for him what can be designated as the main idea.
