OnePay has introduced a new “Swipe to Finance” feature powered by Klarna, allowing users to convert eligible debit purchases into flexible payment plans after checkout.

OnePay, the Walmart-backed consumer fintech app, has launched Swipe to Finance, a post-purchase financing feature powered by Klarna. The new tool lets eligible OnePay Cash users turn recent debit card purchases into fixed-term payment plans directly within the app, giving customers more flexibility to manage cash flow after a purchase has already been made. This builds on OnePay’s existing strategy of embedding flexible payment options into its platform and expanding its suite of financial services.
Swipe to Finance extends OnePay’s payment tools ecosystem beyond traditional debit and credit card use. Instead of choosing a payment plan at checkout, customers can select a financing option after the purchase, offering a safety net for unexpected expenses or cash-flow issues. The feature is powered by Klarna’s financing technology, which already supports a wide range of flexible payment products globally, including installment plans and buy-now-pay-later services.
While the announcement did not detail the exact pricing and APR for the new plans, the structure of post-purchase financing typically means terms will vary by user and transaction, and the feature will be most cost-effective when customers pay on time. Unlike many checkout BNPL offers, where merchants sometimes subsidize interest, post-purchase financing is generally funded by the provider itself, which can result in higher APRs or fewer 0% options than checkout BNPL. Still, it can be a more affordable alternative to revolving credit cards and overdraft fees, provided users manage payments responsibly.
For OnePay, Swipe to Finance reinforces the company’s goal of becoming an all-in-one financial app. The feature complements OnePay’s existing suite of banking and card products, including savings, debit and credit card options, and other flexible payment tools. By offering post-purchase financing inside the app, OnePay strengthens its position in the competitive fintech landscape and adds another layer of convenience for users who want more control over how they pay.
The move also aligns with broader industry trends where consumers increasingly seek flexible payment options that fit their budgeting needs. OnePay’s partnership with Klarna expands the reach of Klarna’s financing tools into everyday banking and debit usage, not just merchant checkout flows. This also positions OnePay to capture users who may be looking for an alternative to traditional credit cards or high-interest loans.
The launch comes after OnePay’s earlier announcement that it is preparing to support crypto trading within the app, including bitcoin and ether, further expanding its financial services beyond banking and payments. This reflects OnePay’s broader strategy to become a one-stop platform for everyday financial needs, from payments and savings to flexible financing and crypto access.
