PayPal Reorganizes Into Three Business Units, Names New Leaders

PayPal announced a reorganization of its business structure and executive leadership on April 29, 2026. The company will operate under three business units going forward:

  • Checkout Solutions & PayPal
  • Consumer Financial Services & Venmo
  • Payment Services & Crypto

The main reasons the fintech company quoted for the reorganization are to simplify the operations structure, reduce internal complexity, sharpen accountability across business lines, and get closer to consumers.

Checkout Solutions & PayPal will cover consumer and merchant operations. Consumer Financial Services & Venmo will focus on Venmo and related financial products. Payment Services & Crypto will include Braintree, SMB processing, value-added services, and crypto products including PYUSD.

New PayPal leadership appointments & departures:

Besides practical business units reshuffling, PayPal has also made several leadership changes at different levels. Here are the new PayPal executives on board:

  • Frank Keller — President, Checkout Solutions & PayPal
  • Alexis Sowa — interim lead, Consumer Financial Services & Venmo
  • Jeff Pomeroy — interim lead, Payment Services & Crypto
  • Antonio Lucio — Chief Marketing & Corporate Affairs Officer
  • Anshu Bhardwaj — Chief AI Transformation & Simplification Officer

Most of the five appointees came from within PayPal, while Antonio Lucio joins as an external hire. His previous position was EVP and Chief of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at HP Inc. He is also a former Facebook CMO.

“To accelerate growth and unlock our full potential, we need to recommit to our fundamentals—getting much closer to the consumer, aligning the company around three strong businesses, simplifying how we work, sharpening accountability, and prioritizing operational excellence,” said Enrique Lores, PayPal President and CEO. “By aligning our structure with our strategy in this simplified approach, we will be better equipped to drive sustainable growth and value creation for PayPal, our customers, and our shareholders.”

Meanwhile, Diego Scotti (EVP and General Manager, Consumer Group) and Michelle Gill (EVP and General Manager, Small Business & Financial Services Group) are leaving the company.

PayPal will share further details about the new structure during its earnings call on May 5, 2026.
