Africa-focused fintech firm Paystack has introduced a redesigned version of its merchant Dashboard, driven by AI tech, which the company describes as its first full rebuild in approximately 10 years.

Paystack’s businesses have access to an updated Dashboard that allows them to manage transactions, settlements, disputes and other payment operations. According to Paystack, the new Dashboard will be available to verified businesses using the platform.
A main element of the new Dashboard will be the new Command Center, which is composed of artificial intelligence (AI)-based capabilities. Users will be able to ask questions such as “How did last week go?” or “Why is revenue down this week?” and receive answers about their business data using natural language, and those answers will be based on the company’s Paystack transaction data.
The system will be able to query and structure information from Paystack’s internal data sources, display it in text, tables, or charts, and then return it to the user.
The Dashboard will have simplified navigation. There will be two primary groups that comprise its overall architecture, while previously the Dashboard had multiple layers of navigation.
“Businesses don’t come to their dashboard because they want to click through pages. They come because they have questions,” said Dara Assim-Ita, Senior Product Designer at Paystack, who led the rebuild. “The most powerful application of AI disappears into the work people are already trying to do,” added Assim-Ita, in relation to the product design approach.
The update also included full feature parity between mobile and desktop devices, which means all functions available via a desktop device will also be on a mobile device. A dark theme is also available for the user interface.
The redesigned Dashboard is built using Pax, which is Paystack’s in-house design system. In addition, the company created an internal service called Project Canvas API, which is designed to enable AI-related interactions and connect to existing internal Paystack systems.
Paystack claims that the new system will have safeguards in place to ensure that all responses are based upon merchant data and all financial information is in compliance.
The company says it conducted a Data Protection Impact Assessment and internal security testing during development. The new Dashboard is now gradually being rolled out to verified businesses on its platform.
