Remitee Raises $20M for Embedded Remittance Growth

Remitee, an Argentina-based fintech enabling banks, e-wallets, fintechs, and retailers to embed remittance & cross-border payment features, has secured $20 million in funding in a venture round led by Krealo.

The company plans to use the funds to strengthen its platform for embedded remittances — a service that allows banks, fintechs, and retailers to offer international money transfers directly within their own apps and systems.

According to the Inter-American Development Bank, remittances to Latin America and the Caribbean surpassed $150 billion in 2024, growing nearly 9% year over year. Millions of migrants rely on these transfers to support their families, but traditional remittance channels still involve high fees and slow processes. Remitee aims to modernize this experience by making cross-border payments faster and more affordable.

Founded in 2017, Remitee enables companies to integrate services such as international money transfers, bill payments, mobile top-ups, and prepaid cards through a single API. Its technology helps users send funds without switching platforms or downloading extra apps.

The company’s infrastructure is already used by more than 40 institutions, including major names like Santander, Banco Galicia, Banco Estado, BCP, Yape, Falabella, Remitly, and MoneyGram. Remitee says its partners can launch new remittance services within weeks instead of years and often see higher transaction volumes and customer retention.

In recent years, Remitee has reported strong financial results. In 2024, the company quadrupled its transaction volume, processed over $34 million in remittances in a single month, and achieved profitability. It also helped nearly 200,000 senders and 260,000 recipients, marking more than fivefold growth from the previous year.

With the new funding, Remitee plans to expand across Latin America, strengthen its network between the US, Europe, and Latin America, and grow its enterprise client base. The company is also improving its technology, including AI-driven payment routing and instant settlements in both fiat and stablecoins, to increase flexibility and regulatory reliability.

Remitee’s long-term goal is to make remittances simpler, faster, and more accessible, integrating them into the financial services that people already use every day.
