Samsung Previews New Smartphone

Samsung has announced a new smartphone, hinting very clearly that artificial intelligence will be the main element of technological content in this development.

Samsung Previews New Smartphone

The mentioned South Korean smartphone manufacturer, which is a world leader in terms of the volume of the making relevant devices, last Tuesday, January 2, announced that a new Galaxy S series mobile phone will be presented on January 17 as part of the Unpacked event. The company described this development as a new era of mobile artificial intelligence. This is more than clear evidence that artificial intelligence will be integrated into the smartphone. Also, the fact that the manufacturer focuses specifically on AI is a sign of the initial importance of advanced technology as a feature of a mobile phone.

The media reported that the smartphone of the South Korean manufacturer is likely to become the first device in the category of corresponding products based on artificial intelligence. Experts expect that over the next three years, more than 1 billion mobile phones with AI will appear on the market.

In 2022, what some analysts call the artificial intelligence revolution began. This global process, which has the potential for a deep transformation of human activity processes, was led by a chatbot based on machine intelligence called ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI specialists. Experts expect that the next stage in the advancement of artificial intelligence will be the introduction of technology into devices, which Qualcomm, an American chip manufacturer, is currently discussing.

Analysts at Counterpoint Research said last month that Samsung and the specified company are the immediate leaders in advancing machine intelligence. Experts point out that the products and opportunities offered by these firms position them as first movers. Analysts said Samsung is likely to have an estimated 50% share of the artificial intelligence smartphone market over the next two years. They also believe that Chinese manufacturers, including Xiaomi, Vivo, Honor, and Oppo, will produce similar devices in the foreseeable future.

The mentioned statements incorrectly reflect reality. Chinese smartphone manufacturers are already using AI. For example, the Vivo X100 smartphone appeared on the market last year, which integrates artificial intelligence technologies. Perhaps Samsung’s developments will have AI with incomparably greater capabilities. However, the fact that Vivo has already integrated artificial intelligence into its smartphone, is not negated in any way. Moreover, Xiaomi has announced a new flagship mobile phone with AI.

The news about the Samsung smartphone appeared in the information space on the eve of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which will take place next week. This event will demonstrate how artificial intelligence from the world of engineering and technology is moving into the consumer space, the commercial sector, and the sphere of the connected economy. Samsung and Qualcomm developments will be presented at the exhibition.

Anshel Sag, chief analyst at Moor Insights and Strategy, noted that there were far fewer artificial intelligence announcements before last year’s CES. The expert said that last year there was a wave of AI, and in 2024 it is appropriate in a symbolic sense to talk about a tsunami of advanced technology.

In previous years, CES has prioritized technologies such as 5G and the metaverse.

The smartphone market is currently in a bad position. Last year was a very difficult period for this commercial space. This means that manufacturers of these devices are likely to seek to integrate artificial intelligence into their products, which can become a driver of mobile phone sales growth.

At the end of last year, analysts at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley said that smartphone sales would soon begin to recover thanks to AI. Morgan Stanley experts noted that currently there is no understanding of what the so-called killer app will be in the sphere of artificial intelligence. According to them, the experience of the desktop Internet and the mobile Internet indicate that the corresponding product will appear in about 1-2 years.
