Standard Chartered Employs AI to Boost Transaction Banking

Standard Chartered’s new AI-powered platform acts as a central hub of banking insights, products, and market capabilities, helping staff answer customer questions and find tailored solutions quicker and more precisely.

Standard Chartered Employs AI to Boost Transaction Banking

Standard Chartered has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered platform designed to help its internal banking teams work faster and more efficiently in transaction banking settings.

According to the bank, the smart platform enables automated and more precise solution matching, offers a unified view of product and market capabilities, and is built to evolve through ongoing innovation and integration with other technologies.

Transaction banking is most often used by corporate and institutional clients, to manage their high-volume everyday financial operations such as payments and collections, cash and liquidity management, trading, supply-chain financing, and other transaction-related services.

In these settings, bankers must tailor individual solutions for each client in a compliant and efficient way. The complication is that institutional clients often have multi-country operations, must manage multiple currencies, and navigate varying regulatory requirements, which should be considered by choosing the best solution available.

The new Standard Charter’s AI platform is designed for the bank’s internal teams, such as relationship managers, sales, product, and proposal teams, as a unified intelligence and knowledge platform, helping bankers to access detailed product information faster, match client needs with relevant transaction banking solutions quicker, and prepare proposals and responses more efficiently.

This is not the first AI-powered initiative of the UK-headquartered bank. In 2025, Standard Chartered introduced SC GPT, a generative AI tool aiming to improve efficiency and client engagement. Deployed across 41 markets worldwide, the bank’s proprietary chatbot tool helps its 70,000+ colleagues across multiple markets to boost productivity, tailor solutions, support marketing pitches, better target sales, refine risk management functions, and automate content creation tasks via AI.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly used in banking, including its transactional part. Institutions like JPMorhan Chase, Bank of America, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Royal Bank of Canada, HSBC, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and many more are deploying internal AI assistants to facilitate and improve the quality of transactional support provided by their teams.
