Global fintech platform SUNRATE has officially renamed its China-licensed entity to SUNRATE Pay Co., Ltd., marking a new stage in the company’s strategic expansion into the Chinese payments market and reinforcing its focus on compliant cross-border financial services.

The renaming follows regulatory approval from the Zhejiang branch of the People’s Bank of China, allowing the company to align its local operations more closely with its global brand and payment infrastructure. The newly named SUNRATE Pay will serve as the firm’s core operational platform in China, supporting domestic companies with international payment and treasury management services.
The move builds on SUNRATE’s acquisition of Transfar Pay, a subsidiary of Shenzhen-listed Transfar Group, in 2025. The deal, valued at RMB 315 million (about $43.8 million), gave the Singapore-based fintech firm a payment business license in China after receiving approval from local regulators.
Following the acquisition, the registered capital of the payment entity was increased to RMB 200 million, while the equity transfer was completed in June 2025 and publicly disclosed by the People’s Bank of China in August the same year. These steps enabled SUNRATE to fully integrate the Chinese payment infrastructure into its global network.
With the rebranded SUNRATE Pay, the company plans to focus on facilitating two-way cross-border fund flows, helping Chinese businesses both receive overseas investment and expand internationally. The platform is expected to streamline global collections, payments, and treasury management while maintaining strict compliance with Chinese financial regulations.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Singapore, SUNRATE provides payment and treasury management services for businesses operating internationally. Its technology platform supports transactions in more than 190 countries and regions, enabling enterprises to manage global payments through APIs, commercial cards, and multi-currency accounts.
The latest development highlights the company’s broader strategy of expanding regulatory coverage and building localized financial infrastructure in key markets. In addition to China, SUNRATE maintains a presence across Asia and Europe, including offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Jakarta, London, and Shanghai.
As global trade continues to digitalize, SUNRATE said it will continue investing in compliance frameworks, governance, and payment technologies to support businesses operating across borders and increasingly complex regulatory environments.
