Warren Buffett, CEO of the Berkshire Hathaway holding company, compared the process of developing artificial intelligence to designing an atomic bomb.

Warren Buffett Warns of AI Use by Scammers

At Berkshire’s annual meeting, which took place last weekend, the mentioned multi-billionaire said that AI could become a source of disaster for human civilization. In this context, the potential consequences of using artificial intelligence were implied.

Warren Buffett said that humanity has let the genie out of the bottle by developing nuclear weapons. According to the multi-billionaire, from this point of view, formulated through a symbolic manner of expressing thought, the mentioned weapon has similarities with artificial intelligence. The Berkshire CEO says that in the case of AI, the genie has already been partially let out of the bottle.

At the same time, Warren Buffett stated that his understanding of artificial intelligence is limited. At the same time, the multi-billionaire noted that he has reason to worry about the prospects for the subsequent development and scaling of the use of AI, mentioning in this context the incident related to deepfake imitating his voice and image. Based on what happened, Warren Buffett concluded that artificial intelligence will become a tool for more effective commission of fraudulent crimes.
The multi-billionaire noted that if he was interested in investing in fraud, it would be the fastest-growing industry of all time. It is worth noting that in this case, modeling of a theoretically possible situation is meant, and not a statement of practical intentions.

Nowadays, according to the media, the business community has intensified a discussion on the topic of potentially possible forms and scales of the impact of artificial intelligence on society. It is worth noting that this is an urgent issue in the context of the current stage of global technological progress and, in a sense, a new challenge, since humanity in its history has not yet encountered autonomous systems of digital thinking that can independently perceive and analyze the surrounding reality. Artificial intelligence has not yet become fully what can be described as an independent functional structure of consciousness. At the same time, AI has the corresponding potential, which is not disputed among developers and experts, and the vector of its present development provides for movement towards transformation into a kind of virtual substance that can realize and comprehend the space of being, both in the plane of human existence and in a more global universal dimension. In this case, the perspective of the future is meant for the most part. But moving in the corresponding direction is already a fact.

The human mind has not yet been in direct contact with other forms of consciousness. In this context, various transcendental, including religious, concepts that provide for the existence of a kind of intellectual superstrength, which has different images and symbols used by proponents of certain theories and paradigms of the world order, are not taken into account. Fears that an additional intelligence will appear in the space of human civilization provoke legitimate concerns. Artificial intelligence has been designed and is currently being trained by humans. However, AI has the potential for independent development. It is worth noting that currently all assumptions about what artificial intelligence will become as a social, political, and economic factor, or as a force for global civilizational progress, are hypothetical and their reliability has not yet been refuted or confirmed by specific practical indicators.

One of the most common concerns about scaling up the process of using AI is the risk that advanced technology will change the state of affairs in the labor market, putting many people out of jobs. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon disagrees with this largely alarmist point of view. According to him, artificial intelligence will cause the elimination of some jobs, but at the same time, this advanced technology will be a source of creating new ones. Jamie Dimon believes that AI will improve the efficiency of workforces. He also suggests that artificial intelligence can become a huge positive force, which, for example, will help scientists invent cures for cancer and allow more people in future generations to live up to 100 years.

The opinion is circulating in the expert community that AI will change the methods of training and upskilling of employees. In the context of the relevant assumption, it is noted that artificial intelligence will form a more personalized learning experience, the benefits of which will be increased efficiency and cutting costs. The Market.US report contains a forecast that the global AI market in education will increase to about $73.7 billion by 2033. Last year, the corresponding figure was $3.6 billion. At the same time, the online education company Chegg, which actively invests in artificial intelligence tools, faced a drop in its stock prices. This fact indicates a high level of volatility in the sector.

Ryan Lufkin, global vice president of strategy at the education technology company Instructure, an educational technology company, said during a conversation with media representatives that generative artificial intelligence can provide a level of personalization in learning that is almost impossible without this advanced technology. According to him, AI will allow firms to quickly assess what an employee knows. Based on the relevant data, the company will be able to teach an employee how to eliminate knowledge gaps. In this case, it is possible to cut the time spent on training and increase productivity.

Returning to the topic of considering AI as a technology that has an impact on the state of affairs in the cybersecurity sector, it is worth noting that in the context of the relevant problem, user awareness is very important. An Internet search query, such as how to know if my camera is hacked, will allow anyone to get information about signs of unauthorized access to the device. Technological literacy is currently what can be called an objective necessity. This thesis is conditioned by the reality of the present historical moment, in the space of which the era of high-level technologies is actively developing and expanding towards the future.
