Xago and NGPES Integrate Cross-Border Payment Systems Across 20+ African Currencies

Xago, a South Africa-based digital payments company, and NGPES, a France-based fintech firm, have announced an integration aimed at supporting instant cross-border payments.

The integration connects the two companies’ payment systems to process international transfers between fiat currencies and digital assets. Under the arrangement, euro-denominated transfers from NGPES users can be converted and routed through Xago’s infrastructure, which provides local currency off-ramp services in multiple countries.

The system uses blockchain-based components to support near-instant settlement. Transactions are processed through digital wallets operated by both companies, with reduced reliance on intermediary institutions.

NGPES holds a DASP license and a Payment Institution license in France and uses EUR-pegged stablecoins. Xago is regulated in South Africa as a CASP-licensed provider, in Australia as a Digital Currency Exchange (DCE), and has a VASP application pending in Botswana. It provides on- and off-ramp services for more than 20 African currencies, including ZAR, BWP, NGN, MWK, and ZWG.

“Collaborating with NGPES marks a significant event for Xago,” said Kevin Lewis, Xago’s Chief Revenue Officer. “As an EU-licensed entity, NGPES brings solid regulatory expertise and access to European markets. This integration will enhance our EU digital payment corridor and expand our geographic footprint. This partnership is especially timely as Xago’s transaction volume has surpassed $1 billion and continues to grow. We are confident this collaboration will provide our clients with even greater speed, reliability, and cost savings.”

The integration also supports transfers between bank accounts and digital wallets across regions including Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Mexico, Latin America, the South Pacific, India, and Europe. The service operates continuously.

Xago’s infrastructure is built on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and supports stablecoins, including USDC and USDT, with XRP used as a bridge asset. NGPES uses EURC and USDC on Ethereum and Solana networks.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Xago, a prominent industry leader that began its journey in Africa and has successfully expanded its payment solutions to more than 50 countries worldwide,” said Frank Combay, COO of NGPES. “This partnership aligns perfectly with our international expansion strategy and strengthens our presence in Africa, where Xago holds a dominant position. Together, we are delivering a risk-free, highly efficient payment solution that meets the evolving needs of corporate clients globally.”
