Kenya-based Zuru has introduced a vehicle-sharing app allowing customers to get confirmed car owners, according to BusinessToday.

Zuru Car Rental allows car owners to upload their cars’ photos and specifications and set rental prices. Users are able via the app to book and pay for the rentals.

Many innocent Kenyans have been conned after being asked to send a deposit to book a car only for the supposed car owners to vanish and switch off their phones. We want to bring credibility to the market
Rawlings Otini, the company’s CEO

According to the report, the app uses customer phone data and social media to ensure customers and car owners are verified before being allowed to list their cars.

Two years ago, the company began as a car hire agency, connecting car owners to customers, but moved to automate the process to quickly scale the service to remote areas. The company has signed up cars in Nairobi, Eldoret, and Kisii and is preparing to launch in Kisumu, Otini said.

We’ve reported that highly qualified Kenyans without degree-level qualifications will be able to apply for jobs in Britain under new immigration rules that followed the Brexit agreement.
