Liverpool will test and develop drones

That would accelerate investment opportunities for the area including economic growth, employment, and skills creation

According to ComputerWeekly.com, a test and development area for drone technology will soon appear in the Liverpool City Region.

The project named ”Dubbed Phoenix I”, is a part of a collaboration between the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) and consulting firm Drone Major Group.

The report states it will ensure the delivery of drone services across surface, underwater, air, and space environments.

Dubbed Phoenix I already has a pathway to develop drone capability in the areas of urban logistics, the environment, security, maritime logistics, port and maritime, and the wider community. It currently comprises 10 initiatives addressing these sectors in the UK.

The mayor also stated that the initiative will create new workplaces and attract investors.

Beside the Drone Major Group, LCRCA has convened other stakeholders including Peel Ports Group, LogisticsUK, SP Energy Networks, Manufacturing Technology Centre, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University.
