Amazon is testing its Amazon Day service in Germany, providing a brand new feature
According to Ecommerce News, Amazon will allow Prime members in Germany to have their orders bundled and shipped on a day of their choice. This service is called Amazon Day. It aims to save packaging material and countless trips from the courier and to prevent multiple delivery attempts.
Amazon introduced Amazon Day for the first time in the US last February. For now, it’s testing the service in Germany, along with different programs that allow Prime members to control the delivery time. With Amazon Day, the company says it aims to save costs and to act more climate-friendly. It means that bundled delivery should prevent customers from being approached by a delivery company several times a week. Another benefit of Amazon Day is that bundled products can be brought to the customer in one big package, meaning there’s no need anymore to have every single product wrapped in carton or plastic.
After the test phase in Germany, Amazon will soon make the service available to all Prime users out there. For the record, Amazon isn’t the only retail giant experimenting with bundled deliveries. Zalando, a fashion retailer, is also testing such a service, as part of Zalando’s ‘Do more’ strategy, which aims to transform the company into a sustainable fashion platform with a positive impact on people and earth.
