According to Juniper Research, the total number of MaaS (Mobility-as-a-Service) platform users will increase by over five times over 2021, compared to 2019.
Therefore, the market will reach more than 1.3 million users during the next year, despite the ongoing pandemic.
The study found that Helsinki is the leading global city for MaaS implementation in the ranking:
- Helsinki
- Vienna
- Stockholm
- Berlin
Although, this growth is contingent upon transit authorities focusing on safety-first concerns to win back passengers to public transport. In case authorities fail to demonstrate this agenda, the MaaS platforms will fail to fulfill their potential.
We’ve reported that public transportation faces digital disruption, fueled by COVID-19. This way, MaaS (Mobility-as-a-Service) platforms’ revenue is expected to exceed $52 billion by 2027, compared to $405 million in 2020.
