Ghana became one more step closer to shifting towards a cashless society
The global payments solutions provider HPS, Ghana Interbank Payment, and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS) launched a universal QR code. This way, Ghanaians will be able to carry out transactions via mobile wallets, cards, and bank accounts.
According to a statement, non-smartphones can make QR codes payments as well. The users can just a USSD code given by the payment service provider, whereas smartphones’ owners can carry out payments by scanning the code.
The Central Bank of Ghana unveiled that the rollout of the universal QR code in Ghana is followed after the World Health Organization’s recommendation to use contactless payments.
