Smart Code, the JCB QR and barcode payments are now available within the K PLUS mobile banking app

KASIKORNBANK, the largest banking group in Thailand, started collaborating with JCB, the only international payment brand from Japan, to launch Smart Code, QR, and barcode payment scheme. This will allow 11 million users of the KASIKORNBANK’s mobile banking app K PLUS to shop at Smart Code merchants in Japan.
Smart Code aims to minimize the system development impact on merchants and mobile payment service provides. It provides clients with the one-stop solution of various QR and barcode mobile payment providers. Merchants can unify the agreements, terminal devices and settlements with each mobile payment service provider.
In 2018 the number of Thai tourists visiting Japan surpassed 1 million people. KASIKORNBANK’s Smart Code launch is expected to increase convenience for Thai travelers in Japan. JCB and KASIKORNBANK will collaborate to enable all the banks and financial institutions in Thailand to join Smart Code in 2020.
