Mastercard announced its new digital service that verifies a person’s identity immediately and securely in both the digital and the physical world.
The pilot program aims to allow people to prove their identity without having to carry multiple documents. Instead, it will activate a distributed model blending information stored on a user’s mobile device and verified by additional reference points, such as an individual’s bank or participating government agencies. Along with that, it eliminates the necessity for a centralized identity database.
Mastercard has entered into a separate collaboration with Australia Post to integrate the agency’s existing Digital iD solution. This way, Australians will get an opportunity to identify themselves easily when accessing services.
