N26 has announced the rollout of a new feature, enabling customers to add a digital version of their card to their mobile wallet. This way, they can start using their account immediately, without waiting before their physical card arrives.

Due to the fact that the delivery of physical cards might be delayed or restricted, the feature will allow N26 customers across Europe to carry out transactions from their houses.

According to the statement, users will be able to activate their N26 cards on the same day they sign up through their Apple or Google Pay mobile wallets with a €200 maximum daily spend.

In recent weeks with the emerging COVID-19 crisis, we’ve seen an increase in demand for mobile payment solutions. We wanted to accelerate this new feature to ensure customers are able to use their new accounts immediately, and also access existing accounts if a card is lost or stolen. We want to help people simplify the experience of managing their finances and deliver the most flexible banking experience in the world
Georgina Smallwood, Chief Product Officer of N26

Besides, the new feature also solves the problem of a stolen card by ensuring customers can still pay with their accounts. They can just block their existing card and re-order a new one within the N26 app.
