According to Juniper Research, SMS business messaging traffic will grow 3.5 trillion messages this year, compared to 3.2 trillion in 2019. Despite the COVID-19’s economic fallout, this represents the increase of 7%.

The study forecasts that the pandemic will directly generate increased demand in sectors, including healthcare and government agencies during this year.

According to the data, business messaging traffic in healthcare services will grow by 10% in 2020. That’s due to the fact the healthcare providers leverage the low cost and wide reach of SMS for notifications amid the pandemic.

As to the travel sector, it leverages business messaging for the delivery of booking confirmations and travel service updates. Nevertheless, the coronacrisis has significantly decreased this source of demand for business messaging services.

The research predicts that SMS low cost per message will keep on generating demand amid the COVID-19’s pandemic. It also highlights that banking and online retail sectors are anticipated to account for more than 25% of all business messaging traffic in 2020.

We’ve reported that Traction on Demand, American consulting firm, and Thrive Health, Canadian software company, announced the rollout of free mobile app for healthcare providers fighting COVID-19.
