The Western Union announced that US customers, from now on, can donate to the Western Union Foundation while completing a money transfer through the Western Union app. This way, the company reaffirms its commitment towards inclusive innovation connecting economies, geographies, and cultures.

The American Red Cross Restoring Family Links initiative has been selected as a beneficiary of customer in-app donations. For over 150 years, Restoring Family Links has been helping reconnect family members forced to separate.

100% of the donations made from December 15, 2019, to January 15, 2020, will go to the American Red Cross Restoring Family Links program. Along with that, each in-app donation will unlock an additional $10 donation from the Western Union Foundation.

The Western Union mobile app donation feature is a tangible example of our inclusive innovation philosophy. We used a hackathon format to tap into the expertise and collaborative spirit of our employees around the globe, and launching the mobile app donation feature to support family reunification for International Migrants Day demonstrates our unwavering support of migrants, refugees and other displaced people

To donate, US customers can simply click ‘donate to the WU Foundation’ before completing their money transfer, thus making a charity contribution.
