AFC strengthens its long-term development capacity through a new US$75 million facility from BADEA, reinforcing a strategic partnership aimed at advancing transformational infrastructure across Africa.

Africa Finance Corporation has announced the successful securing of a $75 million term loan facility from the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa. The agreement marks an important step in deepening the long-standing cooperation between the two institutions and enhancing the continent’s access to stable, long-term development capital.
The facility was formalized during AFC Day at the B20 Summit in Johannesburg, where the signing was conducted by H.E. Abdullah Almusaibeeh, President of BADEA, and Mr. Samaila Zubairu, President and Chief Executive Officer of AFC.
The moment highlighted the shared commitment of both organisations to advancing sustainable development and accelerating infrastructure delivery across Africa. The partnership builds on BADEA’s shareholder investment in 2020 and the cooperation framework established that same year, which laid the foundation for joint work in priority sectors.
The newly secured funds will reinforce AFC’s mandate to develop, finance, and execute essential infrastructure projects across power, transport, logistics, heavy industries, telecommunications, digital infrastructure, and natural resources. With its established capabilities in project development, structuring, and execution, AFC intends to deploy this capital into high-impact initiatives designed to catalyze economic transformation and support long-term growth across the continent.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Zubairu noted that BADEA has been a consistently valuable partner in advancing AFC’s mission and remains instrumental in helping channel capital into sustainable and impactful infrastructure. President Almusaibeeh emphasised BADEA’s continued agility in responding to Africa’s development needs and its strong record of collaborating on long-term financial instruments that support transformative projects.
This latest transaction forms part of AFC’s broader strategy to diversify its funding sources and strengthen its ability to mobilise capital for resilient infrastructure. By expanding its collaboration with shareholder institutions, AFC continues to enhance its capacity to deliver projects that support sustainable and inclusive development across Africa.
