Amazon Bedrock Launches New AI Models

Amazon introduced Claude 3.5 Haiku and an upgraded Claude 3.5 Sonnet from Anthropic AI on its Bedrock platform for general use. Additionally, a new computer use capability for Claude 3.5 Sonnet is now available in public beta mode.

The latest upgrades of these advanced AI models are designed for high-performance generative AI applications. In particular, Haiku is best optimised for speed and is one of the most affordable compact models on the market available today in this category. It can deliver fast, precise code suggestions and completions by recognising programming patterns and responding instantly within development workflows. The model is now offered in a text-only version, with an image-capable update planned later. It’s ideal for applications where speed and cost-efficiency are priorities.

Sonnet offers improved coding, reasoning, and data processing capabilities. With strong contextual understanding, advanced reasoning, and synthesis capabilities, this model delivers quick, natural, human-like responses. It supports diverse use cases, including content creation, document Q&A, and customer service. The model excels in following instructions, choosing tools, fixing errors, and performing advanced reasoning for workflows that involve tool usage.

Moreover, Claude 3.5 Sonnet excels at interpreting images, being particularly helpful for analysing charts and graphs, allowing for quicker and more detailed data insights. It can accurately read text even from imperfect images, like low-quality scans, which is a real game-changer for employees in many industries.

Besides, Sonnet’s new beta feature allows it to perform computer tasks like keystrokes and clicks, assisting with complex workflows. This new experimental feature potentially allows developers to streamline routine tasks like online research and filing expenses, paving the way for various applications from software testing to automated research.

Select Amazon customers like DoorDash and WPP have been utilising the new Claude models to enhance customer service, automate tasks, and boost creative work. All other customers who would like to test the new AI capabilities in action can use Amazon Bedrock to access them. There is a range of AI models available for different industries and use cases, so each client can make a choice based on suitable price, performance, or capability requirements.

Amazon is one of the leading AI players worldwide, offering a range of AI assistants, Vision-Assisted Package Retrieval (VAPR), AI-enabled autonomous checkout systems, image generation tools, and more.
