Apple has made another decision to increase the subscription price for its streaming platform TV+.
From now on, the monthly user fee for access to the specified service of the technology giant is $9.99. The previous value of this indicator was at the level of $6.99. Since October 2022, the annual subscription price for the streaming service, which is part of the structure of Apple’s digital ecosystem, has increased by $36. Last fall, the tech giant increased the price of access to the TV+ platform from $4.99 to $6.99.
The company said that the streaming service will continue to function without advertising. It can be assumed that this is a hint from the tech giant that the increase in cost is a measure to ensure the most convenient and high-quality user experience on the TV+ platform. The innovation in the company’s financial policy takes effect immediately for new subscribers and after 30 days for those who already consume the content of the streaming service.
The most well-known media products of Apple TV+ are serials such as Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and Shrinking.
The streaming service is not the only platform included in the digital ecosystem of the technology giant, access to which is becoming more expensive. For example, similar decisions affected the Apple Arcade gaming platform. The cost of a monthly subscription to this service has increased from $4.99 to $6.99. The revision of the financial policy also affected Apple News. The monthly subscription to this service showed a significant increase in price from $3 to $12.99.
The tech giant announced that the cost of access to Apple Music, Apple Fitness+, and iCloud+ will not change. In a comment to the media, the company separately noted that it is constantly striving to add better content to its platforms and expand functionality.
Apple has increased the subscription price for its streaming service TV+ a week after Netflix made a similar decision. In the United States, the cost of the one-stream basic tariff plan of this company has increased to $ 11.99. The price of the other subscription options has not changed.
Eric Abbruzzese, director of ABI Research, says that the revision of financial policy towards higher cost is a natural practice for firms, many of which currently explain these decisions by inflation.
