The newly created CaixaBank office will act as a central hub for all AI‑related activities across the group.
Spanish lender CaixaBank has established a new Artificial Intelligence Office to oversee its expanding use of AI technologies and ensure they deliver genuine business value while complying with regulatory and ethical standards.
The move forms part of CaixaBank’s 2025–2027 Strategic Plan, which emphasises the renewal of customer channels and the development of new capabilities through generative artificial intelligence.
A multi‑disciplinary team built around a task force of more than 100 professionals will manage the full lifecycle of AI use cases, whether developed internally or sourced from external partners. This includes agentic, generative, and traditional machine‑learning applications.
CaixaBank says the office is designed to ensure robust governance, strategic alignment, operational efficiency and a culture attuned to responsible innovation. It will serve as a single point of contact where employees across the organisation can submit queries, proposals, or requests related to AI deployments.
The initiative reflects CaixaBank’s broader push into cutting‑edge technologies. In recent years, the bank has already deployed AI solutions across customer service channels and internal processes and is working on advanced generative AI agents integrated into its mobile app. The bank is also investing in partnerships with technology providers, such as collaborations involving cloud and AI services, to accelerate digital transformation.
By formalising its AI governance and development efforts, CaixaBank aims to balance innovation with regulatory compliance and ethical safeguards, an increasingly important priority amid evolving EU AI regulations.
