Euronet has signed a strategic agreement to acquire CrediaBank’s merchant acquiring business in Greece, strengthening its presence in the European payments market.

Euronet Worldwide, Inc., a global payments technology company, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the merchant acquiring business of CrediaBank S.A., marking a significant expansion of its footprint in Greece.
The transaction, expected to close in the third quarter of 2026 pending regulatory approval, will merge CrediaBank’s merchant portfolio with Euronet’s existing operations, creating a platform that processes over $22 billion in annual transaction volume and serves more than 240,000 merchants nationwide.
Under the agreement, Euronet will gain exclusive long-term access to CrediaBank’s branch network for merchant sales and distribution, enabling it to offer enhanced electronic payment solutions and support digital transformation initiatives for Greek merchants. The collaboration also includes a planned consumer digital wallet, leveraging Euronet’s wallet platform and integrating Greece’s IRIS instant payment system, reflecting the company’s push into cashless, real-time transactions.
CrediaBank, Greece’s fifth-largest bank by assets, serves roughly 300,000 corporate and retail customers through a network of 65 branches. Its merchant acquiring division covers card processing, online acquiring, and tokenized payment services. By partnering with Euronet, the bank aims to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver improved service quality to its merchants, according to its CEO.
Euronet’s EVP and CEO for EMEA and the Americas emphasized that the deal strengthens the company’s longstanding presence in Greece, where it has operated for more than 25 years, and accelerates the adoption of innovative payment technologies. The transaction aligns with Euronet’s broader strategy of combining technology-driven global payments infrastructure with local banking networks to expand merchant reach and offer integrated digital solutions.
