Confirmo has appointed three senior executives as the company expands its stablecoin payments business in Europe and the United States ahead of upcoming crypto regulatory deadlines.

The appointments come as stablecoin regulation remains a key topic in both regions. In the European Union, the transition period under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework is scheduled to end on 1 July 2026. After that date, crypto-asset service providers operating without MiCA authorisation must stop offering services in the EU.
Derek Corcoran has joined as CEO of Confirmo Limited in Ireland. He previously held roles at OKX, Square, and Mastercard. According to the company, he will oversee Confirmo’s European expansion.

The hires follow Confirmo’s authorisation by the Central Bank of Ireland as both a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) under MiCA and a Payment Institution under Ireland’s Payment Services Regulations 2018. The company also recently announced a partnership with Paxos for stablecoin deposits, payouts, and custody services in the United States.

MiCA implementation has accelerated across Europe in recent months as regulators prepare for the July 2026 deadline. The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) stated in April that firms operating without MiCA licences after the transition period would be “in breach of EU law” and would need to cease services.
The European Banking Authority (EBA) has also issued guidance on how payment and crypto licensing rules should apply to firms handling electronic money tokens and stablecoin payment services.
