Fidelity International Enables Fast Account Top-Ups With Tink’s Pay by Bank

Fidelity International (“Fidelity”), a global asset manager and retirement savings provider, has partnered with Tink, a Visa Solution, to enable account top-ups via Pay by Bank, a fast, secure open banking payment method. The new service is available to Personal Investing customers and advised clients using the Fidelity Adviser Solutions platform, allowing them to fund ISAs, SIPPs, Cash Management Accounts, and General Investment Accounts directly from their bank accounts.

The service leverages users’ secure bank login credentials and Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), including biometric identification method Face ID, to ensure payments are safe and compliant with regulatory standards.

In practice, using Pay by Bank is straightforward and user‑friendly: when a customer chooses this payment option, they select their bank and are redirected to their bank’s mobile app or online portal to log in. Once logged in, the customer reviews the payment details, confirms their bank account, and authorizes the transfer. As soon as the payment is approved, the funds are transferred directly from their bank account into their Fidelity account (often within a few moments). This process eliminates the need to enter card details or manually input account and routing information, combining convenience with high security and efficiency.

Fidelity’s Chief Digital Officer for Global Platform Solutions, Ian Hood, explained that the partnership with Tink enables personal and advised clients to fund accounts quickly and conveniently, removing friction and improving the overall customer experience. He added that integrating Pay by Bank expands Fidelity’s digital payments infrastructure and provides a modern, secure alternative to traditional methods like manual bank transfers.

Ian Morrin, Head of Payments at Tink, noted that Pay by Bank represents the next evolution of open banking payments and allows institutions like Fidelity to make topping up investment accounts faster, safer, and more seamless.

Open banking adoption is accelerating globally. Juniper Research forecasts that open banking users will grow from 183 million in 2025 to over 645 million by 2029, reflecting growing demand for faster, more flexible payment methods.
