Testing and certification company Fime got accredited by MOSIP to conduct biometric device testing within its ecosystem.

MOSIP (Modular Open Source Identity Platform) is an open-source platform used by governments for their national digital identity programs development. More than 100 million citizens across world countries, like the Philippines, Ethiopia, and Morocco, have been issued MOSIP-based digital IDs. Biometric data captured during enrollment and authentication now underpins how these programs verify identity.
Under the accreditation, Fime will independently test biometric devices used in the MOSIP ecosystem against the platform’s requirements and applicable international standards. Testing covers performance metrics such as false acceptance rate, false rejection rate, and failure-to-acquire rate, as well as Presentation Attack Detection, Biometric Data Injection Attack Detection, and bias evaluation across demographic groups. Covered modalities include fingerprint, facial, voice, and palm recognition. These are all critical for modern security, travel, transportation, and financial services e.g. biometric payments.
Fime has NIST NVLAP accreditation (Lab Code: 600365-0). Besides, the company is accredited under ISO/IEC 17025. Its biometric evaluations thoroughly align with ISO/IEC 30107 and ISO/IEC 19795. The company also offers digital identity compliance testing against ISO/IEC 18013-5:2021 and ISO/IEC 18013-7:2024 for products such as mobile driving licence readers and wallets.

MOSIP was established in 2018 at the International Institute for Information Technology, Bangalore. It is not a wonder that the organisation is located in India, boasting its large-scale flagship ID system Aadhaar (that covers about 1.4 billion people). This not-for-profit project is addressing one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Namely, “to provide legal identity for all, including birth registration by 2030”. As of 2025, 150–166 million children under age 5 globally are still not registered at birth (about 1 in 5 children across different world corners), per UNICEF data.
