Hitachi to Launch Global Digital Services Company Hitachi Digital

Hitachi has announced plans to launch a new global digital services company, Hitachi Digital Inc., on April 1, 2027. Hitachi Digital will focus on enterprise digital transformation at the convergence of cloud, data and AI, aiming for concrete business outcomes. The company will bring together approximately 35,000 professionals in 27 countries and more than 880 active clients.

It will combine product and software engineering with enterprise systems and operational expertise, backed by more than 100 years of Hitachi experience in building and operating mission-critical infrastructure.

“Our clients need one partner who understands how an industry works, maintains deep technology ecosystem relationships, while engineering what’s new, modernizing what’s underneath and keeping it all running across the enterprise,” said Anand Birje, CEO and Chairman of Hitachi Digital. “Hitachi Digital brings digital engineering and operations together as one company, at global scale, with the industrial depth of Hitachi behind us. We can be our clients’ one trusted partner from strategy through operations.”

The company will support clients across the full transformation lifecycle. Its focus will include key vertical industries and AI-era service lines such as Physical AI, Data and Intelligence, Cloud and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Enterprise Applications. Experience from these engagements will continue to feed proprietary solutions, including HMAX, a next-generation suite that applies AI to social infrastructure. Hitachi Digital also plans to strengthen strategic alliances across the technology stack, from the data layer to frontier AI labs.

GlobalLogic and Hitachi Digital Services have already been recognized by industry analysts. ISG Research ranked them as Leaders in Intelligent Robotics and Physical AI Services, Digital Engineering Services, and Generative AI Services. Gowtham Sampath, Assistant Director and Principal Analyst at ISG Research, noted that Hitachi Digital Services has been recognized for connecting edge intelligence, robotics, and AI-driven decision layers into secure, mission-critical environments. GlobalLogic has shown strength in augmented design, R&D services, intelligent operations, and connected platform and application services.

A further differentiator will be the Hitachi Group’s operational technology (OT) and domain knowledge in industrial businesses. Drawing on that expertise, Hitachi Digital intends to accelerate the adoption of both enterprise AI and Physical AI in manufacturing, mobility and energy, as well as inside the Hitachi Group through “customer zero” initiatives. Synergy revenue with the Hitachi Group grew 46 percent year-on-year in the first half.

Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) will play a central role. These specialists work directly inside clients’ operational environments. Teams of AI specialists, data scientists and engineers will apply new capabilities alongside customers and technology partners.

“With the launch of Hitachi Digital, Hitachi will evolve into a global digital services company capable of providing end-to-end solutions ranging from enterprise AI to Physical AI,” said Jun Abe, Executive Vice President and Head of the Digital Systems & Services Sector at Hitachi. “By uniting GlobalLogic’s digital engineering with Hitachi Digital Services’ enterprise and operational expertise, and leveraging the FDE team as a driving force, together with Hitachi’s OT and domain knowledge in social infrastructure, we will work alongside clients throughout their business transformation and help maximize value creation.”

Hitachi Digital plans to grow through investment in AI, data and cloud talent, including FDEs, as well as through expanded alliances and acquisitions across the technology ecosystem.

The company will also drive adoption of Lumada 3.0 and support co-creation with clients. The decision to integrate GlobalLogic and Hitachi Digital Services was first announced in January 2026.
