Cashfree Payments, one of India’s leading payments and API banking firms, is accelerating its push into AI-driven commerce following the launch of its new in-chat payments solution, Cashfree Here, unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
The company’s newly introduced Cashfree Here solution enables users to complete payments directly inside AI chat applications, reducing the need to switch between platforms during checkout. The launch was carried out in collaboration with Mastercard and Swiggy, reflecting growing industry interest in embedding payments within conversational AI environments.
Founded in 2015, Cashfree has grown into a major fintech infrastructure provider, offering businesses a full-stack payments platform to accept and send money via UPI, cards, wallets, net banking and more than 180 payment methods. The company says it processes approximately $80 billion in annualized payment volume and serves over 800,000 businesses, from startups to large enterprises.
Cashfree is authorised by the Reserve Bank of India as a payment aggregator and cross-border payments provider, enabling it to operate under formal regulatory oversight in India’s rapidly expanding digital payments market.
Its broader product suite includes payment gateway services, instant payouts, subscription billing, refunds, cross-border transactions and identity verification tools. Its technology infrastructure is designed to support high-volume processing and enterprise-grade reliability.
In terms of funding, Cashfree has attracted backing from global investors including Krafton, as well as support from State Bank of India, Y Combinator and Apis Partners. A 2025 funding round reportedly valued the company at approximately $700 million.
As India’s digital payments ecosystem continuing to expand, AI-driven commerce is emerging as a new frontier. In late 2025, the country hosted a multilateral pilot AI payment project. Within its frameworks, ChatGPT users in India are now able to discover products and complete purchases using India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) directly within the ChatGPT experience.
