Klarna sees its profits grow 57% YoY, as it establishes a tech hub in Warsaw and looks forward to a strong holiday season driven by tech innovations.
Klarna, an AI-powered shopping platform and flexible payment solution provider, has announced its financial results for the first nine months of 2024, which brought the firm a net income of SEK 216 million. At the same time, the innovative BNPL provider made a strategic move to open a new hub in Warsaw, looking to recruit abundant local tech talent.
A 57% year-over-year increase in Q3 2024 marked Klarna’s second profitable quarter. The Swedish payment and e-commerce company, founded in 2005, credits this growth to strategic partnerships with prominent industry players like Worldpay, Adyen, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, expanding its reach across global retail markets.
The company has also recently partnered with the technology company Lenovo and a popular video communications platform Zoom, among other global businesses, which provides even more growth opportunities.
Klarna also launched innovative banking products like Klarna Balance and Cashback, attracting millions of users and boosting merchant sales. With these advancements, the BNPL provider is positioned for a strong holiday season while continuing to drive innovation and profitability.
On the background of solid financial results, the company keeps expanding its tech capabilities. With the new hub in Warsaw, Poland, Klarna is aiming to hire over 100 top tech and AI engineers in Poland by 2025.
This strategic move highlights Poland’s growing status as a tech powerhouse while also reflecting Klarna’s commitment to advancing AI-driven commerce globally. The hub is expected to play a key role in developing innovative payment and shopping solutions for the benefit of the company as well as millions of consumers and merchants worldwide.
“Poland is Europe’s next tech powerhouse. Warsaw’s exceptional engineering talent, thriving startup scene, and strategic location make it the perfect choice for our new tech hub. This isn’t just about Klarna’s growth—it’s about unlocking Poland’s potential on the global stage. As someone with Polish roots, I’m excited to see Klarna deepen its connection with this dynamic community and shape the future of AI-powered commerce together.”
