Palo Alto Networks Completes $25B CyberArk Buy to Redefine Digital Identity Security in AI Era

Palo Alto Networks on Feb.11 completed its acquisition of CyberArk, a move the company says will firmly anchor identity security within its broader platform and help enterprises protect human, machine and agentic identities as artificial intelligence reshapes digital risk landscapes.

The deal brings CyberArk’s industry‑leading identity security platform — a set of digital identity security and privileged access tools, into the heart of Palo Alto Networks’ product suite, expanding its capabilities well beyond traditional perimeter defenses.

Executives framed the acquisition as critical to meeting modern threats, noting that identity has emerged as the primary attack vector in cloud, automation and AI‑driven environments. With machine identities now vastly outnumbering human ones, and autonomous AI “agents” multiplying across enterprise systems, both companies argued that a unified identity security solutions approach is essential for stopping credential abuse, reducing standing privileges and slowing lateral movement during breaches.

Under the terms of the deal, CyberArk’s technology will continue to be offered as a standalone platform while integration begins to infuse its capabilities into Palo Alto Networks’ broader ecosystem. Customers are promised continuity of service and an accelerated roadmap focused on operational efficiency and resilience. A planned secondary listing on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange under the CYBR ticker aims to preserve CyberArk’s heritage even as the combined company integrates its offerings.

Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora highlighted that the acquisition addresses the “end of identity silos,” enabling enterprises to manage privileged access across hybrid cloud environments from a single platform they already trust for network security and security operations. This identity security platform will now be positioned alongside Palo Alto’s AI‑powered network, cloud and threat analytics tools, giving it a comprehensive suite of protections in the AI era.

CyberArk’s CEO said the combination creates “the definitive cyber guardian for the modern enterprise,” with more robust tools to stop identity‑based attacks than either product set alone could deliver. Analysts see the deal as a watershed moment for identity‑first security, underscoring that as digital ecosystems evolve, identity‑based security is becoming fundamental to enterprise risk strategies.
