PayPay Files for Nasdaq IPO, Targeting $10B–$19B Valuation in Major Cross-Border Fintech Debut

Japanese mobile payments provider PayPay Corporation has publicly filed for an initial public offering in the United States, seeking to list its shares on Nasdaq under the ticker PAYP, according to regulatory disclosures. The company is targeting a valuation range of approximately $10 billion to $19 billion, positioning the deal among the most significant fintech listings of the year.

The planned IPO underscores growing international investor appetite for digital payments platforms with established domestic scale and diversified revenue streams. PayPay has built one of Japan’s largest cashless ecosystems, offering QR code payments, peer-to-peer transfers, merchant services, and financial products integrated into everyday retail and online transactions.

Founded through a partnership between technology and telecom groups, the company has expanded rapidly amid Japan’s push toward a more cashless economy. Over recent years, PayPay has reported steady increases in user adoption and merchant acceptance, supported by incentives, partnerships, and broader digitalization trends across transportation, e-commerce, and small businesses.

Proceeds from the offering are expected to support product development, infrastructure investments, and potential strategic initiatives, including expanded financial services and new merchant solutions. The U.S. listing also provides PayPay with greater access to international capital markets and a broader base of institutional investors.

The valuation range reflects both the scale of PayPay’s user base and broader market conditions for fintech stocks, which have experienced renewed interest following a period of volatility. Analysts note that cross-border listings by Asian payment companies remain relatively uncommon, making the offering a closely watched test of investor sentiment toward global digital wallets.

If completed, the Nasdaq debut would mark a milestone for Japan’s fintech sector and could encourage further overseas listings by regional technology firms.
