Meta, the Facebook parent company, is launching a bill splitting feature. The built-in feature in Facebook Messenger will be tested from the start of next week by users in the US.

This feature is vital in situations that necessitate splitting of bills such as in restaurants or after an outing with friends.

The feature allows users to ask for money from people in the group chat. Users can also see who has paid the amount requested. The bill splitting feature was unveiled after Meta’s cryptocurrency chief, David Marcus, who was also the former Messenger lead, announced his intent to leave the company.

Meta also has new Group Effects. With these, people on Instagram and Messenger can video call via the same augmented reality effect. This is popular among creators. Currently, three Group Effects are available.

We’ve reported that MoneyGram to enable cross-border money transfers from Saudi Arabia.
