The lab aims to fight and respond to rising coronavirus cases
The capital territory of Islamabad, Pakistan opened its first robot operated COVID-19 testing lab.
The lab was opened by Future trust, in a partnership with a UK-based company Opencell which features highly advanced robotics. According to the media briefing by the officials, the lab only requires a total of six staff members for complete operation and has the capacity to process around 2,000 tests in a day.
The laboratory was made by Opencell in the United Kingdom and has a facility of Biosafety Level 2 plus and built according to the ISO 15189 standards.
The high-tech lab was made with an aim of meeting the requirements for high throughput COVID RT- PCR testing.
Doctor Christian Turner, the Britain High Commissioner, paid his gratitude to the ambassador-at-large, Ali Jehangir Siddiqui for such advanced high tech foreign investments.

He further added that the United Kingdom is proud to be a part of the forefront of the fight against this global pandemic and the efforts to produce a vaccine against COVID-19 and its distribution globally.
He elaborated that this is an example of economic trade and growth. Dr. Christian was very keen to boost the export-led economy with more collaborations like this through the UK-aid.
