Uber has lastly finalized its Postmates all-stock acquisition pact. The deal had been announced back in July this year and is valued at $2.65 billion.

Postmates will join Uber but will continue to operate as a different service. As such, it will have separate front end and back end operations as well as its branding. However, there will be a merge in a shared number of drivers.

The move will be a benefit to the merchants not to mention the ability to get feedback on the merchants’ part. This will entail a project, referred to as a regional listening exercise set to begin next year. The partners will work with chambers of commerce and local restaurant associations to handle the concerns of local business owners.

The project is similar to efforts made by Uber to focus on the driver’s feedback to improve the double-sided marketplace.

The acquisition comes as grocery industries and foodservice companies seek more delivery options amid the public health safety guidelines and stay-at-home orders.

We’ve reported that Uber has unveiled Uber Direct, a fast and contactless way to manage the delivery process for Canadian retailers.
