Italy-based Banca Mediolanum has introduced its own sustainable challenger bank Flowe. The new initiative aims to create tools that facilitate a sustainable financial lifestyle for its customers.

Flowe issues Mastercard cards made of recycled wood, although, users can set up a payment account with a virtual card as well.

Besides, the bank collaborates with the ZeroCO2 project. They are planting trees in the Pèten region in Guatemala since every plant can help support the economy and nutrition of local families. Flowe’s users can even see where their tree is and follow its growth by asking for a photo within the app.

Flowe also cooperates with Swedish sustainable banking service Doconomy. This way, customers can estimate the CO2 produced by each purchase made with their Flowe Card Mastercard.

We’ve reported that Visa has partnered card provider CPI Card Group to issue the Earthwise High Content Card made of nearly 98% recycled plastic.
