Amazon Says Prime Delivery Speed Increases

Amazon has reported that its Prime deliveries are showing record-high speeds.

Amazon Says Prime Delivery Speed Increases

The mentioned e-commerce giant on Monday, April 29, released information according to which during the first quarter of the current year, more than 2 billion goods were delivered to its customers worldwide on the same day or the next day.

Amazon Stores CEO Doug Herrington says that almost 60% of orders from Prime members in March arrived on the same day or the next day at the 60 largest metro areas in the United States. Also, according to him, last month three of the four items were delivered on the same day or the next day to London, Toronto, and Tokyo.

It is worth noting that the ownership structure of the e-commerce giant includes the best American delivery service.

The mentioned information was made public immediately after the first-ever Amazon Annual Big Spring Sale. This initiative is notable in that it applies to those customers of the e-commerce giant who are not subscribers. Amazon Prime Days, which has managed to become something like a traditional event, is designed to gain subscribers to fill their shopping carts with merchandise.

Amazon Annual Big Spring Sale, according to preliminary information, in terms of the final result, was inferior to the indicators that are recorded during Prime Days. From 2021 to 2023, sales under the subscriber-oriented initiative drew in 36% to 40% of buyers in the United States. At the same time, the corresponding result of the Amazon Annual Big Spring Sale was 28%. Also, in this case, it is noteworthy that during the last Prime week sale, one buyer purchased an average of 7 items. The same indicator of the Amazon Annual Big Spring Sale is 6 items. The trend was also recorded, according to which the number of purchases of home appliances, electronics, and furniture decreased. Buyers have shown greater interest in clothing, accessories, and products for beauty and health.

At the same time, the result of the Amazon Annual Big Spring Sale in the form of gaining 28% of buyers cannot be described as exclusively negative or symbolically designated as a kind of collapse. Moreover, this initiative was able to convince almost a quarter of the consumers who participated in it to sign up for Prime.

Last week, Amazon introduced grocery delivery subscriptions for Prime members and EBT users. This solution has been launched in more than 3,500 locations across the United States. As part of the new initiative, Prime members get unlimited delivery of $35 worth of groceries from Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and many other grocery stores and specialty retailers for $9.99 per month. The e-commerce giant launched testing of the service last year in Denver, Sacramento, and Columbus, Ohio.

Tony Hoggett, senior vice president of worldwide grocery stores at Amazon, stated that the company’s goal is to build a best-in-class grocery shopping experience. According to him, the e-commerce giant strives to become the best choice in terms of parameters such as selection, value, and convenience.
