According to preliminary information, the main element of the modernization of the mentioned devices will be a new generation of processors, independently designed by the technology giant based in Cupertino, California, and developed taking into account the features of artificial intelligence.
Five months ago, Apple presented its first Mac computers with M3 chips. Insiders claim that the tech giant is approaching the debut of the next-generation M4 microcircuits. According to preliminary information, the new chips will be offered to consumers in at least three versions. Insiders also claim that the tech giant plans to equip the M4 chips with all its Mac models.
It is worth noting that Apple’s computer manufacturing business is currently going through an extremely difficult period. After peaking in 2022, sales of devices from this product line fell by 27% in the fiscal year ended in September 2023. During the holiday period, the indicators did not improve.
The debut of computers with M3 chips did not prove effective as a factor influencing the commercial results of the technology giant. However, these microcircuits have not demonstrated a significant performance improvement compared to the characteristics of the previous generation M2.
Apple intends to present computers with M4 chips at the end of this year or early 2025. The upgraded low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro, high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, and Mac minis will debut. It was also reported that during 2025, Apple plans to release upgraded 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro. It is worth noting that all these devices in improved versions will receive M4 chips.
