Cegid has taken a decisive step to strengthen its position in the small-business technology market by entering a definitive agreement to acquire Shine, one of France’s leading digital banking platforms for freelancers and micro-enterprises.

Cegid announced that it has signed a definitive acquisition agreement with Shine, marking a significant move to broaden its suite of solutions for independent professionals and small businesses. The planned transaction will combine Cegid’s established strengths in business management software with Shine’s widely used neobanking services, creating a more comprehensive offering for entrepreneurs seeking efficient and integrated financial tools.
Shine has built a strong reputation in France for its intuitive banking interface, administrative assistance features, and support for compliance obligations: capabilities that align closely with Cegid’s strategic focus on delivering reliable and user-centric technology to growing businesses. By integrating Shine’s platform, Cegid aims to enhance the financial and operational visibility available to small enterprises, while meeting increasing demand for solutions that simplify day-to-day business management. The combined offering will include e‑invoicing, accounting, digital business accounts and payments, payroll, tax, HR, and more.
Upon completion of regulatory approvals, Shine is expected to continue serving its existing customer base while benefiting from Cegid’s expanded resources, long-term product vision, and international footprint. Cegid has indicated its intention to preserve Shine’s strengths and agility, while accelerating product development and expanding service availability.
Shine is reported to bring to Cegid over 400,000 existing SMB customers. According to the public release of the deal, after the acquisition is completed, Cegid and Shine will together serve over 1 million SMBs and 15,000 accountants across multiple European markets (such as France, DACH, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Denmark, and Belgium).
This acquisition reflects broader industry momentum toward unifying financial services with business management technology, particularly for freelancers and early-stage companies seeking streamlined digital tools. With Shine joining its portfolio, Cegid reinforces its commitment to supporting the evolving needs of small business owners through integrated, modern, and dependable solutions.
Although the exact deal conditions are not yet disclosed, media estimates the acquisition is likely worth over one billion euros. Further details will be released following the completion of the regulatory process.
