Facebook announced the launch of Portal and Portal+, two new AI-powered video communication devices for the home.

Portal has a 10-inch display, while Portal+ is equipped with a 15-inch screen. Powered by AI, Portal’s Smart Camera automatically pans and zooms to keep everyone in view. Smart Sound technology minimizes background noise and enhances the voice of whoever is talking.

Portal allows making calls to and from Messenger-enabled smartphones and tablets. Devices also support group calls of up to seven people at the same time.

Moreover, it offers hands-free voice control and has Amazon Alexa built in, allowing to ask for sports scores, check the weather, control smart home devices, order groceries, and more.

Both devices are available now for pre-order in the US – from Facebook, Amazon and Best Buy – and will begin shipping in November. The prices are $199 for Portal and $349 for Portal+.
