Google is adding new artificial intelligence-powered features to a version of its Maps service designed for users living in India.
In this case, the Internet search giant, which is also one of the major players in the artificial intelligence industry, is launching functional solutions such as AI-powered summaries, the ability to search for experiences, and weather alerts in the South Asian country.
The Maps app in India will analyze reviews and show users summaries of places. The Internet search giant announced the new solutions at its annual special event for the South Asian country this week.
Google will also provide Indian users with the opportunity to search for items and experiences on maps. For example, in this case, consumers can request information materials on the topic of a unique picnic spot or themed birthday cakes to contact the sellers of the relevant products. When someone asks queries, Google Maps shows an image that prioritizes displaying photos uploaded by companies and users. The relevant information is contained in the message published by the company.
Google uses image recognition to match labels or place descriptions to queries.
The Internet search giant also said that users will see new weather warnings in areas with low visibility due to fog and flooded roads during navigation.
The bundle of new features will be available in India in the current month. It is worth noting that artificial intelligence-powered reviews were added to the Maps service in the United States in February. Yelp, Google’s competitor, also shows business summaries in its updated US feed.
