Meta expects to see artificial intelligence characters that will generate content on social media platforms that are part of its digital ecosystem.
The mentioned technology giant hopes to observe the specified new form of AI functioning on Instagram and Facebook.
Connor Hayes, vice president of product for generative artificial intelligence at Meta, stated during a conversation with media representatives that AI characters will exist alongside already registered accounts on the mentioned virtual platforms. In this context, it was noted that digital characters will have bios and profile pictures and be able to generate and share content powered by machine intelligence. The relevant practice contains sufficient grounds for assertions about the formation of a new type of interaction between artificial intelligence and humans in the virtual environment.
Hundreds of thousands of AI characters have already been created using the tool, which Meta launched in the United States over the summer and plans to expand in the future. At the same time, most of these characters are still being kept private by users.
Some observers warn that the content generated by artificial intelligence can be misused, for example, for sharing disinformation. Meta’s rules stipulate that corresponding content must be clearly labeled.
The technology giant is also adding features powered by artificial intelligence, which are designed to help creators improve their content.
It is worth noting that during the period of active development and scaling of machine intelligence, the issue of cybersecurity has become more relevant. Scammers also have access to artificial intelligence, which is why their activities have become more sophisticated. Personal awareness of users is important to counteract the relevant threat. For example, an Internet search query such as how to know if my camera is hacked will allow anyone to get information about signs of unauthorized access to the device.
