Microsoft is releasing its first Surface PCs with a dedicated Copilot button on the keyboard, which provides users with quick access to the chatbot.

Surface in the past was the material embodiment of the idea of what a Windows computer could be. In this case, we mean a product of the highest level of technological development. The very idea of a Windows computer is not something new and special, since the corresponding operating system has been the most popular in the world for many years and its practical use does not belong to the category of potential opportunities, being a kind of standard practice integrated to human activity in the digital dimension.
Using the example of the Surface, Microsoft intends to demonstrate the convenience of applying generative artificial intelligence with one keystroke. The new product is available in two configurations, including the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6.
When users of new PCs type a few words into Copilot, which uses artificial intelligence models from OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, servers in faraway data centers will begin to perform the necessary computational work to generate a response to a consumer request.
The new key, which allows users to open the Copilot panel on the right side of the screen at any time, helps matters, along with the silicon inside. New PCs are equipped with Intel processors. In this case, applying Core Ultra, which contains a special neural processing engine, or NPU. The advantages of this processor are fast response and increased security.
Microsoft has added artificial intelligence features to Windows 11. In this case, AI features such as automatic audio transcription and simulation of eye contact during video calls are available to users. These operations are run on the NPU. The rest of the chip is available for other tasks.
The presentation of the Surface PC with a dedicated Copilot button on the keyboard took place two weeks after the debut of Apple MacBook Air laptops equipped with an updated Neural Engine accelerator in the custom microcircuit M3.
The cost of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop starts at $1,199. These devices can be equipped with as much as 64 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Laptops are already available for pre-order. Deliveries of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop will begin on April 9th.
