Tieto Reaches Databricks Silver Partner Status as Demand for Data Engineering and AI Platforms Grows

Tieto has reached Silver partner status in the Databricks Partner Program, reflecting ongoing activity in areas such as data engineering, analytics, and enterprise AI platforms. The development comes as organisations across industries increase investment in data infrastructure and scalable machine learning environments.

Tieto Reaches Databricks Silver Partner Status as Demand for Data Engineering and AI Platforms Grows

The designation signals closer alignment with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, which is commonly used to integrate data management, governance, and AI model development within a single architecture. As enterprises move from pilot projects to production-level deployments, platforms that support unified data and AI workflows are becoming more widely adopted.

Within this context, Tieto is expanding its technical capabilities through its consulting division, Tieto Tech Consulting. The company has outlined plans to scale its workforce in areas including data engineering, machine learning, and platform operations. This includes a target to double the number of Databricks-certified specialists by 2026, alongside broader training and certification initiatives aligned with industry standards.

“Achieving Silver Partner status is an important milestone, but it’s only the beginning,” says Pär Johansson, Interim Managing Director, Tieto Tech Consulting. “Databricks is becoming the backbone of modern AI architectures, and our investments reflect the scale of opportunity we see for our customers.”

The expansion reflects a broader market trend in which organisations are prioritising data platform modernisation, AI deployment at scale, and governed data environments. Companies are increasingly seeking end-to-end capabilities that cover the full AI lifecycle, from data preparation and platform engineering to model deployment and optimisation.

Tieto’s approach also includes further development of enterprise AI platforms designed to support generative AI, machine learning operations (MLOps), and secure data environments. These capabilities are becoming central as businesses aim to operationalise AI while maintaining compliance and data governance standards.

“As organizations move from experimentation to production-ready AI, the focus shifts to delivering real business value,” added Pär Johansson. “With Databricks as a key part of our strategy, we can support clients end-to-end — from building data foundations to designing, implementing, and operating secure, and high-performance data platforms.”

The partnership is also being applied in the healthcare sector through Tieto Caretech, where data integration and analytics are increasingly used to support clinical and operational decision-making. The company has developed the Lifecare Data Platform, which combines elements of data lakehouse architecture and traditional data warehousing.

The platform is currently used by 14 of Finland’s 21 wellbeing services counties, as well as HUS Helsinki University Hospital, to consolidate data from multiple sources into a centralised environment. The system supports automated data ingestion, modelling, and storage, enabling the use of healthcare data for research and service optimisation.

“With a data-driven approach and deep domain expertise, we help our customers transform healthcare by turning complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive research, innovation and better outcomes. Building the Lifecare Data Platform on Databricks was a strategic choice that now enables us to use AI to unlock greater value from healthcare data and improve productivity in ways that were not possible just a few years ago,” says Ari Järvelä, Managing Director, Tieto Caretech.

As demand for AI platforms, data lakehouse solutions, and enterprise data analytics continues to grow, partnerships between consulting firms and infrastructure providers are likely to play a key role in shaping how organisations deploy and scale data-driven technologies.
