According to a May 18 announcement, OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT is now available on Apple App Store in the US. The company also hints that an Android version is coming “soon.”

The new app syncs customer conversations, supports voice input with the proprietary speech recognition model Whisper and brings OpenAI’s latest model improvements to one’s mobile phone.

The service is initially available for iPhone and iPad users in the United States and will expand to other countries “in the coming weeks.”

Before the introduction of the official app, AI enthusiasts have already been experimenting with ChatGPT’s features on their mobile devices. Many of them resorted to quite complex workaround schemes to attempt integrating the chatbot with the iPhone’s virtual assistant Siri.

All the customers who haven’t got an official ChatGPT app available in their app stores yet can still access OpenAI’s software on a mobile device via Microsoft’s Bing app, which offers access to the company’s GPT-4-powered chatbot.

In the nearest future, the main ChatGPT competitor, Google’s newly introduced Bard, which is already available to the general public, will be released as a mobile app version as well.

The number of ChatGPT uses in finance, crypto and retail are numerous. We have previously reported that ChatGPT can predict stock price movements.
