Klarna Grows Its Presence in Physical Stores With Adyen Partnership

Klarna’s flexible payment methods will be available on Adyen’s physical payment terminals across Europe, North America and Australia.

Klarna Grows Its Presence in Physical Stores With Adyen Partnership

Klarna, the AI-powered global BNPL provider, payments network and shopping assistant, has partnered with the Adyen fintech platform, to launch its flexible payment solutions simultaneously on all of Adyen’s physical payment terminals worldwide.

Adyen’s network of payment terminals includes over 450,000 devices ranging from countertop devices to mobile terminals. With the new partnership, the terminals will feature Klarna’s Dynamic QR solution. To make a payment, customers should scan a QR code displayed on the Adyen terminal and complete the transaction on their mobile device using one of Klarna’s interest-free BNPL payment methods. Buyers can then keep track of the purchase made through the Adyen terminal in their Klarna app.

Currently, the integration is in its pilot phase and available at select locations. However, the new offering should undergo a wider rollout already in October.

Klarna and Adyen have a long-standing partnership. Klarna’s BNPL options have been long present on Adyen’s online checkout resources. Their joint efforts aim to boost payment flexibility and improve customer experiences both off- and online, with plans for further expansion.

“We want consumers to be able to pay with Klarna at any checkout, anywhere. Our strong partnership with Adyen gives a massive boost to our ambition to bring flexible payments to the high street in a new way.”
