Samsung has announced a major update to its Samsung Wallet app.

Samsung Is Integrating USDC Stablecoin Transactions Into 82 Million Galaxy Smartphones

Starting in late October 2026, eligible Galaxy device users in the U.S. will be able to send and receive USDC directly through their mobile wallet. The rollout of this feature will begin in the U.S. market.

The new initiative is being implemented in partnership with the crypto platform Bastion and the custodial service Coinbase Prime Vault, which ensure the secure storage of assets. The smartphone’s built-in biometric authentication will be used to confirm transactions. The technical integration is based on the Solana and Sui blockchain networks, with the primary focus for USDC transfers being on the Solana ecosystem.

One of the main advantages of the new service will be that Samsung does not charge its fees for sending USDC to compatible external crypto wallets, although third-party service fees may still apply.

In addition, the feature opens up extensive opportunities for global transactions, allowing users to make cross-border transfers to bank accounts in more than 60 countries. The recipient does not need to have their crypto wallet, as the digital funds can be automatically converted into local fiat currency upon deposit into a bank account.

To use the new USDC transfer feature on Galaxy smartphones, users will need compatible devices running Android 13 or later. An important hardware and software requirement is that built-in biometric authentication (such as a fingerprint scanner) must be enabled to confirm transactions.

Additionally, smartphone owners must meet age requirements (be of legal age), have an active Samsung account, and complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process directly within the app. Samsung says its Knox security platform will help protect sensitive data on compatible devices.

European launch timelines remain unconfirmed. Official representatives from Samsung and the Solana Foundation have confirmed that the rollout of crypto features to other regions is planned to take place in phases. However, each subsequent step will depend entirely on local legal requirements and the completion of regulatory reviews.
